VALD Performance and Rehab Assessments in Mackay

How strong are you really? Is your injured leg as strong as your other one? Are you getting more powerful, or does it just feel that way? With VALD testing, we can answer those questions with numbers instead of guesswork.

Untapped is one of the few clinics in the Mackay region using VALD ForceDecks and DynaMo. We use them across both our clinical exercise physiology and athlete development services.

What is VALD?

VALD makes testing technology used by professional sporting teams, universities and clinics around the world. We use two systems.

ForceDecks

Dual force plates that measure how much force you produce, and how quickly, as you jump, land, squat, balance and push. With a plate under each foot, we can see differences between your left and right sides.

DynaMo

A handheld device that measures strength and range of motion at individual joints, including hips, knees, ankles, shoulders and neck. It's quick, portable and great for tracking rehab progress.

What we can measure

  • jump height, power and landing forces

  • strength of individual muscle groups

  • differences between your left and right sides

  • balance and stability

  • range of motion

  • changes over time as you train or rehab.

Your results are compared with your previous tests and with normative data for general and athletic populations, so you can see how you stack up.

Who VALD assessments are for

Athletes and teams

Get baseline data before pre-season or a high performance program, track your training progress, and find areas to work on. Detecting imbalances early can help guide training aimed at reducing injury risk.

Anyone curious about their body

You don't need an injury or a training goal, just a willingness to understand your body. It's also a useful baseline to measure against as you get older.

People recovering from injury or surgery

See exactly how your injured side is tracking compared with your uninjured side, to help guide decisions about progressing rehab and returning to sport or work. Learn More →
